Treatments & Procedures

Bariatric surgery is done when obesity can’t be managed through diet and exercise and the patient is under risk of having serious health problems because of it. Some procedures limit how much you can eat, some control how much you absorb from the food, and some others combine both. The department offers both invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures for the patients to choose from according to their own personal choices, physical fitness, and weight goals for the best results.

This is a non-reversible laparoscopic surgical procedure in which a part of the stomach is removed and the size is brought down to 15-25% of its original size, making the stomach look like a tube or sleeve like structure and restricting the intake of food due to the reduced size.

A laparoscopic surgical procedure through which an adjustable band is placed on the upper part of the stomach. This is minimally invasive and restricts the intake of food because of the smaller gap between the upper and lower parts making the one at top feel full faster while the flow of food to the lower section is slower.

In this procedure, the stomach is divided into two sections, a small upper pouch and a larger lower pouch, both of which is later connected directly to the small intestine through rearranging. This method bypasses a large portion of the digestive system making it possible to absorb minimal calories from the food. The surgery can be minimally invasive or can be done as open surgery as well.

A type of bypass surgery in which a large section of the stomach is removed to create a small pouch which is then connected to the small intestine. It also facilitates the bile and pancreatic juices to mix together before they enter into the colon as well, bypassing even more of the small intestine than Gastric Bypass, ensuring calorie absorption remains the least possible.
