Key Procedures

Also called Keyhole Surgery, this is a procedure in which small incisions are made on the chest through which the surgeon inserts specialized instruments to perform conventional operations.

A surgical procedure used to facilitate normal blood flow for those suffering from coronary artery disease. A blood vessel from some other part of the body is taken as a graft and then attached to the area above and below the problematic artery bypassing the blockage. The surgeon does the procedure while the heart is still beating. So the use of a heart-lung bypass machine isn’t required.

CABG in which the surgeon stops the heart during surgery and uses a heart-lung bypass machine.

A major open-heart surgery in which the heart valve is removed and replaced with a mechanical or biological tissue valve.

A surgical procedure in which both valves of the heart are replaced.

Surgical procedure done to correct holes on the Atrial Septum. Depending on the severity, can be done through a minimally invasive procedure using a catheter where the hole in the heart is plugged close with the help of video imaging, or through open-heart surgery where the heart is accessed directly by the surgeon through a chest incision to close the hole.

Used to treat Ventricular Septal Defects. The surgical procedure is the same as that of ASD.

Lobectomy is a procedure in which the diseased lobe of the lung is removed through surgery. Pneumonectomy removes the entire lung.

Procedure in which a part of the tissue lining the lungs and the inside of the thoracic cavity is surgically removed.

Small incisions are made through which a small videoscope and specialized surgical equipment are inserted to perform the surgical procedure.

The two main arteries of the heart are transposed. This congenital heart problem is corrected through open-heart surgery.

A Blalock-Taussig (BT) shunt is inserted temporarily to help clear the blood flow from the heart to lung while waiting for the corrective surgery.

AV fistula directly connects the artery to the vein and increases the blood flow into the vein, making it easier to access during haemodialysis. In AV graft, a synthetic tube is used.
