Surgical Procedures

Scoliosis causes the spine to curve to one side. In few cases, scoliosis may be corrected through bracing or surgery.

Spine problems are more dominant in the elderly. The more common of these are related to degenerative changes affecting the discs and other structures. Factors that lead to disc degeneration include the inevitable drying that comes with age, which decreases the disc's ability to absorb shock. Due to limited healing capacity, the deterioration process starts leading to spinal degeneration.

Key hole surgery or lumbar decompression is a minimally invasive surgery that relieves the pressure on the nerves in the lower back that involves very small incisions with minimal damage to the tissues and fast recovery.

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion is a surgery performed to remove a herniated or degenerative disc in the neck.

Open discectomy is the most common surgical treatment for ruptured or herniated discs of the lumbar spine.

Lumbar surgery or decompression is a common surgical procedure used to alleviate the lower back pain caused by pinched nerves.

Lumbar interbody fusion is a type of spinal fusion that involves removing the intervertebral disk. This type of fusion is performed using different approaches like accessing the spine through incisions in the lower back or through incisions in the side.

These are minimally invasive procedures to treat vertebral body compression fractures, which means small breaks in the vertebral body.
